| | Practical Beekeeping Series Starting April 21st
Join Dave Storm and the Rock Bottom Ranch staff to learn the art of all natural
beekeeping! This course is designed for beginner and experienced
beekeepers to obtain firsthand experience and knowledge in the practical
aspects of keeping bees using all natural methods. Rock Bottom Ranch
will provide the necessary tools and a beekeepers veil for each student.

Family Farm Days Starting April 24th, 9:30am - 11:30am
Family members of all
ages will enjoy this glimpse of farm life as they learn how to farm
with the seasons. Milking a goat, harvesting garden greens, pressing
apple cider- there is fun to be had by all! Each Saturday will have the
same basic activities but will vary through the seasons depending on
what's available at that time from the garden and the ranch. No registration necessary, $20 suggested
donation per family.

Celebrate Earth Day at ACES
| | April 22, 4:30pm - 6pm
ACES
invites you and your family to celebrate Earth Day at Hallam Lake.
Plant willows, catch aquatic insects, create crafts, tour the preserve,
listen to an Earth story from a Spellbinders storyteller, and learn
about what you can do to help the Earth. Visitors that walk, bike, or
bus to the event may enter their name into a raffle to win prizes. For

New: ACES Apprenticeship
| | High School and College Students
This
apprenticeship is designed to introduce high school and college
students to environmental education and environmental studies careers by
apprenticing at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. Students
will assist in teaching environmental education programs, read and
discuss articles, write daily journal entries, conduct individual
research, and create a portfolio of work. This apprenticeship is in the
approval process for 1 undergraduate credit with Adams State College.

Aspen
Eco Fest is launching its first annual event over the Earth Day weekend
of April 24th and 25th. Eco Fest is a cultural and educational
environmental festival- blending business and the environment, free and
open to the public, and organized and produced specifically for the
Western Slope audience.

Maroon Corps Project at ACES

 Remember Chaco
and Smoke, ACES' donkeys? Well, they were relocated to the beautiful
pastures of Rock Bottom Ranch and their enclosure at Hallam Lake is now
empty. Get involved and join volunteers from Maroon Corps and ACES to
help build a new teaching space in the old donkey pasture! This new
space is greatly needed and will be used all year long for hands-on
environmental education!

Aware
| | DOW Seeks Aspen Community's Helpwith Bear Education
Do you like bears? Would you
like to help educate the public about how to coexist with bears in our
community? The Colorado Division of Wildlife in partnership with the
City of Aspen and Pitkin County is looking for volunteers to be a part
of the new "Bear Aware" Team to help educate others about avoiding
problems with black bears in Aspen and Pitkin County. For details click HERE.
