Eco Ed

Running scientific transects in the pinyon-juniper forests of the Mount Sopris crown, physicalizing the transition from igneous to sedimentary to metamorphic rocks, exploring the cottonwood canopy on a winter night in search of our resident wild great-horned owls—this is our classroom, laboratory, and learning playground for children in the ACES Rock Bottom Ranch Eco Ed program.

ACES Eco Ed programs at Rock Bottom Ranch cultivate ecological literacy in students through hands-on experiential exploration of the local environment. Working side by side with our ACES educators, students participate in our wildlands restoration projects, water quality monitoring research, and much more as they learn the basic ecological systems of the local environment while developing their scientific understanding of the natural systems which sustain their daily lives
