In 2008, Paula and Jim Crown, art patrons and managing partners of the Aspen Skiing Company, invited artist Walter Niedermayr to visit Aspen Snowmass to photograph the four mountains and surrounding landscape. The completed body of work - The Aspen Series - became a contemporary document representing the region and the completed pieces were installed at various locations throughout the resort: Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk, and Snowmass, in on-mountain restaurants, ticket offices, and The Little Nell and The Limelight Hotel Aspen. Click here for more information about Aspen/Snowmass' art partnerships.

In 2013, the Aspen Skiing Company received the BCA 10: Best Businesses Partnering with the Arts in America Award. The following year, Walter Nierdermayr and his wife Cristina were invited back to create The Aspen Summer Series, a re-examination of several of the same places during a different season.

The Aspen Summer Series multi-panel compositions were completed over the course of one year. The works feature four alpine locations photographed from different vantage points. From June 10th - September 4th, you are invited to view The Aspen Series installed alongside The Aspen Summer Series during a special multi-location exhibit at The Little Nell, the Limelight Hotel Aspen, and ACES at Hallam Lake.
