Come play under the stars on a peak night of the Perseid meteor shower! Learners and curious people of all ages are invited to Hallam Lake to join Dr. Cherilynn Morrow, a long-time friend of ACES, PhD solar physicist, and an enthusiastic NASA space and Earth science educator for a tour of the night sky.
Dr. Morrow will share an exciting interactive presentation that will introduce you to our amazing Universe. She will also share insights and stunning imagery from her recent adventure to the Arctic where she joined two other science educators to photograph and blog about the Northern Lights! Dr. Morrow's presentation will include an all-ages, engaging and playful Kinesthetic Astronomy lesson explaining astronomical phenomenon like why meteor showers are best in the wee hours of the morning, and why we see different stars at different times of year.
The evening will culminate with a lake-side tour of the night sky and hopefully a glimpse of some Perseid meteors!
Cookies, tea and coffee will be provided. Please bring warm clothes and a picnic blanket for lake-side star gazing.
(In the event of rain the show will still go on! We wll move Dr. Morrow's exciting Kinesthetic astronomy lesson indoors!)
