What is Rock Bottom Ranch?

Rock Bottom Ranch serves as ACES' mid-valley hub for environmental education, wildlands preservation, and sustainable agriculture. The 113-acre wildlife preserve and educational ranch is hidden away between the Roaring Fork River and the Crown of Mount Sopris and is located midway between Basalt and Carbondale on the Rio Grande Trail. Its acreage includes wetlands, spring-fed ponds, a braid of the Roaring Fork River, cottonwood bottomlands, and a view of the Pinyon Juniper Woodland on adjacent BLM land.

Rock Bottom Ranch is open to the public 9am to 5pm, Monday through Saturday in the summer months and Monday through Friday in the winter months. Please stop by and experience a guided tour of the farmyard, walk down our nature trail, peruse our library, or picnic on Cole Island.

For more information or to visit Rock Bottom Ranch send an e-mail to rockbottom@aspennature.org or call us at 970.927.6760.
