Hailing from the town of Teotitlan del Valle in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, Elena Gonzalez, Bulmaro Manuel Perez, and Porfirio Gonzalez are celebrating their Zapotec culture by educating people about natural dyes and traditional weaving. These artists use only natural dyes and wools which are woven into tapetes or handmade rugs, each piece requiring months to complete as the wool is carded, spun, and dyed in small batches, then carefully woven into original designs.
The Catto Center at Toklat Fall Membership Potluck is a thank you celebration in honor of our members. Everyone is encouraged to attend this event and become a new member. Benefits of membership include: invitations to membership dinners and events, subscription to ACES publications, discounts on Naturalist Field School courses and at ACES book store/gift shop, and admission to the Potbelly Perspective lectures and Eagles, Hawks, and Owls programs.
