Ashcroft Volunteer Trail Building

"Give us an Hour, Give us a Day"

The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies has partnered with the Aspen Historical Society, the US Forest Service and Valley Lumber to complete the Ashcroft Boardwalk Project! This volunteer-based work aims to restore the boardwalk at the Ghost Town of Ashcroft, located 11 miles from Aspen, up Castle Creek Road. The goal of the project is to create a safe, long-lasting and environmentally-friendly trail through the historic Ghost Town. Volunteers are asked to "give us and hour, give us a day" during which we will lay down gravel, shovel and clean the pathway, haul lumber and pound rebar. We will work hard,in the spirit of old Ashcroft, while we enjoy the marvels of the Castle Creek Valley.

Volunteer crews are needed July 27th, 28th and 29th. We will meet at 9:00 am each day to carpool from the Prince of Peace Chapel in Aspen or at 9:30 am at the Ashcroft lower parking lot. We will continue working until 5:00 pm each day but you are welcome to come and go as your schedule allows! Snacks and beverages will be provided and volunteers are asked to bring a bag lunch, a lot of water and sunscreen!

Please contact the Historical Society's Anna Scott at 925-3721, ext. 103 to volunteer or if you have any questions.
