The Meadow, by James Galvin

The first meeting of the ACES Book Club will be on Thursday October 27th, 2011 at the Catto Center at Toklat at 6pm. Patrick Kelly, ACES Trustee, Programming Director at the Aspen Institute, and former employee of Orion Magazine will be our guest moderator and he has chosen The Meadow by James Galvin.

Patrick's description: "The Meadow is a non-fiction novel of life on the CO/WY border, spanning multiple generations, rooted in the natural world. Galvin, a native of the place, has a wonderful voice, and the book raises a number of core themes: connection to place, the role of the natural world in one's life, duty and responsibility to one's community, and the poetry of everyday life. The book is around 200 pages, with three or four narratives running, tracing and interconnecting the various lives - over time - in this one place."
