Painting & Birding the Violet Green Swallow
A collaboration with the Art Base
Join us at the inspirational setting of Rock Bottom Ranch for an evening of birds and watercolor! The class will start off with a short birding outing with ACES Bird Guide Rebecca focusing on the Violet Green Swallow and other resident birds, their behavior and how they interact with the environment. The students will then explore with Amy the various techniques, materials, and tools of watercolor to paint several perspectives of this variety of swallow. Let your creativity fly!
All levels welcome. Supplies are included.
IMPORTANT: Registration is processed through the Art Base. Your normal ACES login will not work - you will be prompted to create an Art Base account if you do not already have one.
About the Instructor:
Amy Beidleman is a local artist. Painting watercolor for more than just a hobby was always a dream of Amy’s until a few years ago when a friend saw her work and offered to sell prints as cards in her Aspen store. That was in 2010, now Amy has her cards in numerous shops in Colorado and Wisconsin. She also teaches art classes, sells her paintings and prints and has done commissioned work for businesses and individuals. She continues to do art shows in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond, and is also a water media curator for the Aspen Chapel Gallery. For over 20 years, Amy was CFO of a couple local banks which gave her a strong financial background to start her own business. She is mostly self-taught, studying with some well-known artists, such as Alvaro Castagnet, Thomas Schaller, Ted Nuttal, Andy Evansen and local Sarah Peterson. Amy has lived and worked in Aspen, Colorado since 1978. She is married to Neal and they have two children, Finn and Reed. Amy supports a number of non-profit organizations through the creation of artwork and donations of cards.
