Sparking wonder in the classroom and the outdoors
Our extensive science and environmental learning programs create a passion for learning and prepare regional students to excel in science at an early age. Since 1975, ACES Ed has partnered with local schools to provide a broad spectrum of science education in the classroom and in the field through hands-on exploration. Regarded as "a science classroom without boundaries," ACES Ed curriculum is highly integrated with that of the schools. We provide support for under-funded programs stressed to meet increasing district and state academic standards. Our mission is to foster generations of ecologically literate citizens, build critical thinking skills, engage students in problem-solving, and open doors to a brighter future.
ACES Ed applies a diverse approach to science education, incorporating earth, physical and life sciences as well as elements of environmental ed, outdoor ed, experiential ed, STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) ed, standards-based ed, placed-based ed and project-based learning. ACES Ed programs also integrate components from ACES' other areas of focus, including sustainable agriculture and forest health curriculum.
ACES provides nationally acclaimed, full-time, in-school environmental science education at Aspen Elementary School, Basalt Elementary School, Crystal River Elementary School in Carbondale, as well as science programs and field trips for more than 62 regional schools.
ACES Ed has expanded its programs 200% in the past five years, and we work with schools in Battlement Mesa, Parachute, Rifle, Silt, New Castle, Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, Baslat, and Aspen.
Exposure to nature reduces stress levels, and improves fitness, creativity, and focus. By immersing students in the complexity and magic of nature, ACES supplies critical life experiences that enhance academic success, health, and well-being.
Tomorrow's Voices is a non-partisan program dedicated to cultivating responsible citizenship and ethical leadership in the youth of the Roaring Fork Valley by fostering the skills and knowledge necessary to discover their own voices.
ACES offers teacher training workshops, leads presentations at leading conferences in the region, and consults with schools and districts across the state - so that we are all working together to provide science education in Colorado schools.
Our 13 full-time Educators teach with the knowledge to inspire and enthusiasm that is contagious. Our Educators include bilingual, licensed, and creative professional teachers with extensive classroom and field science experience.
