Experience the mountains around Aspen with an ACES Naturalist. Our guides know the area and have a wealth of stories and information to share about wildlife and history of the area.
ACES is currently able to offer guided hikes according to federal, state, and local public health orders.
Snowshoe Nature Tours
Snowshoe with an ACES Naturalist! Snowshoeing is a great winter activity to explore the Roaring Fork Valley. Snowshoe tours include snowshoes and Naturalist guides to identify animal tracks, teach mountain ecology, and help you feel more connected to nature, even in winter. Dress in warm, waterproof boots then strap on our snowshoes to explore on mountain, to a scenic lunch spot, or adventure around town. On-Mountain Snowshoe Tours
Join us on Aspen Mountain or at Snowmass for a daily snowshoe tour Dec 14 - April 16. Prices: $74 Adults, $54 Youth (7-17 years) and Seniors (over 65 years). If you have your own lift ticket, tour prices are: $43 Adults, $34 Youth & Senior. Tour price includes gondola ride, snowshoes, knowledgeable guide, and basic snowshoeing instruction. Purchase tickets at any Aspen Snowmass ticket office. These tours are limited to 10 people.
Aspen Mountain
Weave in and out of spruce and fir forests as you take in Aspen's majestic vistas from Richmond Ridge with a knowledgeable Naturalist on this two-hour guided snowshoe tour. Learn about wildlife in winter, tracking, mountain ecology, Aspen history, avalanches, and winter habitats.
Tours depart from the top of the Silver Queen Gondola at 10am and 1pm daily.
Snowmass Mountain
Explore spruce and fir forests along a babbling creek in the Snowmass Ski Area on this two-hour guided snowshoe tour with a Naturalist. Learn about Rocky Mountain winter ecology, animals, and more as you discover the area and enjoy the silence of a snow-covered forest.
Tours depart from the top of the Elk Camp Gondola at 10am and 1pm daily.
Ashcroft Snowshoe Tour
Our winter Ashcroft Tour has it all: After a jaunt through the silver mining ghost town of Ashcroft, wander along Castle Creek, through meadows, and take in spectacular big sky views. This 4 hours snowshoe tour includes a gourmet pri fixe lunch at the famed Pine Creek Cookhouse, snowshoes and basic instruction, an ACES Naturalist guide, and trail pass.

Free Snowmass Ski Tour!
Take a break from tearing it up to ski with a Naturalist. Naturalists lead a 45 min nature tour down green and blue runs from the Wapiti Wildlife Center near the top of the Elk Camp lift daily at 11am and 1pm. Spot snowshoe hare tracks, see who has been eating tree bark, and see how nature and the ski resort coexist.
