Audubon Christmas Bird Count

ACES invites you on Sunday, December 16, 2018 to help count birds in the Aspen area during the 119th Audubon Christmas Bird Count (CBC), the longest-running citizen science survey in the world. Birders of all experience levels are welcome and encouraged to participate in this important census that has helped assess the health of bird populations and guided conservation action since 1900. Across the Western Hemisphere, over 50,000 people count birds during local count events, many making the adventure of winter birding a seasonal tradition. Birders will meet at Hallam Lake before heading out to count in the Aspen area. Other ways to participate in addition to the count day, are: feeder watching, owling, and count-week observations.

For more CBC experience, join the mid-valley Audubon Christmas Bird Count hosted by Roaring Fork Audubon on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Contact Tom McConnell for more information at 970-379-7356 or

Get into the swing of local winter birding at our Birding with ACES class on December 4th, January 8th, and the first Tuesday of the month throughout the winter season. We hope you'll join ACES bird guide Rebecca Weiss for this important citizen science event!
