In Aspen, all you have to do to find wilderness adventure is to walk out the door. But, are you ready to face the challenges you'll find outside? In this week-long class we will develop basic mountain knowledge ranging from map-and-compass navigation to outdoor risk management and decision making. By the final day you will know how to pack the perfect day-pack, identify local edible plants, and use natural materials to protect yourself from the elements. We'll be based at Hallam Lake, but plenty of hikes and field trips will give you the chance to test your skills. Can you light a one-match fire? What do elk do when they're caught in a lightning storm? What leaf can help soothe a nettle's sting? Come join us to find out!
