Maroon Bells Tours

Maroon Lake
Daily at 10:15AM and 1:15PM
This short out and back stroll takes you along the shore of Maroon Lake at the base of the towering 14,000 foot peaks of the Maroon Bells. ACES naturalists share stories about geology, aspen trees, wildflowers and wildlife. Suitable for all ages.

  • Meet outside of the Maroon Bells Information Center near the bus drop off
  • 1 mile round trip (45 minutes – 1 hour) 
  • Trailhead elevation 9,580ft, high point 9,600 ft
  • Easy hiking
  • No reservations

Crater Lake
Daily at 10:15AM and 1:15PM
This fairly strenuous classic hike takes us from Maroon Lake to Crater Lake through beautiful aspen groves. Views of the Maroon Bells and Pyramid Peak are with us almost the entire way.
Suitable for all people ready for a moderately strenuous hike.

  • 1.8 miles one way (2 – 2.5 hours) 
  • Trailhead elevation 9,580ft, high point 10,080 ft 
  • Moderate/strenuous hiking
  • 9 person maximum, first come first served
  • No reservations
