Zach Spector, Noah Novotny, Lydia Moore, Josh Kuhn, March Thompson, Kevin Belanger, Olivia Seigel, Lauren Beck, Laurie Heckman, Ashleigh Quillen, Stephanie Seto, Evan Larson, Nick Lund, not pictured Katherine McKinney ACES conducts an intensive Summer Naturalist Internship program that trains and employs 14 naturalists each year. This program has been recognized by the Princeton Review as one of "America's Top 100 Internships." Summer Naturalists receive valuable education, training, and experience while they conduct environmental education programs and natural history interpretive tours. These programs take place at Hallam Lake Nature Preserve, Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, and at the Maroon Bells.
Rock Bottom Ranch, the 115-acre Wildlife Preserve in Basalt, offers the RBR Summer Environmental Education & Sustainable Agriculture Internship.
Following the internship, Summer Naturalists have the opportunity to apply for two other positions that are available at ACES each year.
Winter naturalists are hired for the ski season to lead naturalist-guided snowshoe and skiing tours and other interpretive WINTER PROGRAMS.
Educators teach local children during the school year through ACES' EDUCATION PROGRAMS.
Since 1996 more than 80% of all winter naturalists and educators came to ACES through the Summer Naturalist Internship. While the majority of the hiring for these advanced positions is done in-house, applicants whose background includes experience equivalent to ACES' Summer Naturalist Internship will be considered.
ACES has a small administrative staff which focuses on programming, public relations, development, and finance.
